Ways to Serve

Altar Guild

The altar is one of the most important parts of any church service. The altar, which is the raised table where the communion is given, must be maintained and decorated according to the church's liturgical seasons. The altar guild is the group in each church that devotes its time to maintaining the altar.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers are licensed by the bishop according to the canons of the church and act under the Bishop's authority through the office of the Rector, Victor, or Priest-In-Charge of the local congregation. A Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) may assist the celebrant distributing the Sacrament in either form. Training for Liturgical Eucharistic Ministers is provided locally by the Member of the Clergy in charge.

Readers

A layperson that is authorized to read some parts of the service, especially assigned scripture readings.

Ushers/
Greeters

A usher/greeter is an ambassor of the church he or she serves.  He/She introduces visitors to the church and distributes the worship booklet. The usher/greeter helps the priest to make the service a success by putting the congregation in the right frame of mind for worship.  The usher/greeter meets people with a warm smile and welcome, and directs them to available seats.

Coffee Hour Host

A great ministry this is to serve as a host and hostess that provide coffee and refreshments on a rotating schedule. Each Coffee Hour is unique. They provide an opportunity to visit and get to know other members of our parish on Sunday morning.  To sign up, please look for the sheet on the bulletin board.
